OLAKIRA Anticipated EP ‘4play’
The incredibly exciting Olakira’s most successful track, ‘In My Masserati,’ continues to shine. Dropped last June, it builds to his much-anticipated EP release arriving next month, ‘4play’.
Produced by Olakira himself, soft synth pads are joined by classic Afrobeat rhythms in the drums and percussion, giving swing and movement. His production talent is especially evident in the musical additions to the catchy vocals, such as the saxophone, quick-repetition synth and guitar parts.
“It’s a flirtatious and romantic call to the opposite sex, with a double meaning,” explains Olakira, “to jump in my ride and to jump into a relationship.”
Originally from Ogun State in Nigeria, he moved to Lagos to follow his musical aspirations, from which his career has blossomed. With multiple production credits to his name for other artists, he is by no means just a performer while he plays various instruments, all of which are self-taught.
The track itself has already done incredibly well worldwide, with over 7 million streams on Spotify alone. It has led to a remix with Afrobeat giant DaVido as well as a Headies ‘Rookie of the Year Award’. The video is just as slick as its audio basis, with an array of beautifully lit studio shots and stylish visual effects involving Olakira and various sleek Maserati’s.
It builds up to his latest EP release, arriving next month, titled ‘4play’. The much-anticipated release will cement Olakira’s musical ascension, one that ‘In My Maserati’ most definitely continues to contribute to.
