New Music:Lucianne “More”
British Nigerian singer-songwriter and actress LUCIANNE, formerly known as Luci Monet, announces the imminent release of her single titled “More,” under her own newly formed independent label RIV Records (Real Issa Vibe Records). Lucianne presents a transportative track while merging Afro-Soul and contemporary R&B with unprecedented swag grace. Injecting spirituality into sound and sharing it with others through her music is unmistakably Lucianne’s mission on earth as an artist.
Kicking-off the year in the best of shapes, Lucianne shared some of her thought about the new single “More”:
“‘More’ is inspired by something I’ve been through and an experience I think many others have as well, with so much of our lives being online. I was really into someone I always saw online, and I just knew that if I ever had the chance to have him in my life, it’d be all good, but I only really saw him online and was always yearning to take it offline. The song speaks about loving someone from a distance for such a long time that you now need more than that. It is one of my favourite songs, and I hope it gives us all the courage to go for what we want.”
After spending the past few years pursuing her acting dream and making a name for herself in the second largest film industry in the world, Nollywood, with starring roles in films such as Three Thieves (Netflix) and Dark Room, British Nigerian singer, songwriter and actress LUCIANNE (formerly known as Luci Monet) is back with a powerful release.
Written by Lucianne, produced by burgeoning Nigerian musician Majeek, “More” is an infectious afrobeats-leaning R&B offering with lush pop sensibilities that sees Lucianne waxing lyrical about an online attraction that she desperately wants to take offline. The song also comes with a fitting virtual
reality themed music video directed by Doyin Ajakaye for Simplicity Studios that explores the line between an online fantasy world, where Lucianne gets to be with her online attraction, and real-life, where it’s all in her imagination, begging the question of whether the virtual world can ever actually become our reality.
Highly recommended if you like the sounds of Wizkid, Tiwa Savage or Ayra Starr, Lucianne has been singing and performing since she was 11-years old and even had a memorable stint on X-Factor UK as a teenager. She burst onto the UK afrobeats music scene in 2016 with her seminal track ‘Ijo’ featuring Mista Silva, garnering support from the likes of BBC 1Xtra, Soundcity TV and Reprezent Radio, before also crossing over to achieve success as an actress in Nollywood.
Lucianne’s unique aesthetics in terms of music ranges from Afro-soul to conscious alternative r&b, neo-soul and contemporary r&b. Her music is certainly in a category of its own. With a narrative that is in tune with the times and a voice that profoundly penetrates the human soul, Lucianne never sets any boundary, relying on her emotions and intuitions through a meticulous and inspiring approach.
2022 marks the year Lucianne returns to her first love and calling, music, with the release of “More,” as well as a string of singles lined up for the year. ”More” is set to find its audience and solidify Lucianne’s rise as one of the most talented and inspiring singers of her generation, with so much to share with her rapidly growing fan base.
