KENYA’S TOP MUSIC STARS TO THRILL FANS IN LONDON NEXT WEEKEND

Kenya’s top musicians, Jua Cali, King Kaka, Femi One and Boutross, are set to thrill music fans on Saturday, May 20th, in London. The event, set to be the official Rugby Sevens after-party, will be held at the Royal Regency. The lineup has mixed the old and new school crop of Kenyan musicians, who command massive following in East Africa and the diaspora. Jua Cali, a pioneer member of the Genge music genre, represents the old school; King Kaka and Femi One represent the East African hip-hop
culture, while Boutross represents the new crop of musicians topping the charts both at home and
abroad.
However, according to Jua Cali, his music represents both the old and new genres. “I have been in the industry for more than 20 years now, but I still release new music every day,” said Jua Cali, speaking to soundsofafrica.org on the phone from Nairobi. “The pandemic prevented me from performing and promoting my new album ‘Utu Uzima’. I am excited to perform music off the album for the first time in London next weekend.” Jua Cali also said it’d been ten years since he last performed in London, and he can’t wait to get the crowd charged again.
The event, mainly meant for Kenyans in Diaspora, will be among the first in a series of events set to be held this year.
