EPHRAIM BEATZ X DRUMZ ‘KELEWELE’ OUT NOW
Ghanaian artist Drumz (formerly known as Atumpan) teams up with burgeoning music producer Ephraim Beatz, to bless his fans and music lovers with the official visuals to his new single ‘Kelewele’.
‘Kelewele’ is ripe plantain chopped, seasoned with aromatic spices, and fried to a scrumptious tender taste served alone or with roasted peanuts to your desire. The single comes at exactly the right time following the COVID-19 lockdown, setting the scene for post lockdown summertime vibes.
‘Kelewele’, is another high-level demonstration of genre versatility, playful production, candid songwriting from the multi-faceted artist. Enveloped in enthralling and self-assured vocals, heavily influenced by the infectious sounds and culture of his native.
Directed by M.A, ‘Kelewele’, touches on key themes that include; culture, happiness and freedom of expression. “The track came about from a conversation in the studio with my boys about our favourite Ghanaian dishes and how some of these dishes have been adapted to the western styles of cooking. It was hilarious when one of the boys mentioned how his Mrs gives him stew with every form of potatoes such as jacket potato, mashed potato, boiled potato and even chips. The catchphrase ‘Are You Mad’ came into my head and I said I would rather eat kelewele and the song was born.” Drumz explains.
Drumz is one of the most promising talents to emerge from the UK Afrobeats scene of late, having burst onto the UK Afrobeats landscape with his infectious AfroSwing, and dancehall fused breakout track ‘The Thing’ which has amassed over half a million streams on Spotify alone and influenced the growth in his popularity, giving listeners an insight into his incredible lyrical ability and spirited stagecraft.
Drumz is ready to reach new heights with his music, which will cement his musical ascension. As his career continues to jump from strength to strength, he’s never lost sight of his home and past.
With no intentions of slowing down, Drumz is an indication of an artist who is not only able to draw on their own experiences to curate vibrant musical landscapes. But guaranteed to leave a striking impact on the Afrobeats scene.
