New Video: Floyd Miles & Natty Rico – IFEMI

Floyd Miles is known for his ability to fuse genres, thus creating unique listening experiences. Following his 2020 R&B releases, “Prove”, “2Much”, and “OMNI”, Floyd entered unchartered territory and found comfort in experimenting with a new tempo.

Inspired by the intersecting rhythms of Jazz, Funk, and Soul soundscapes of Afrobeats, Floyd collaborated with French producer Natty Rico, creating the feel-good and dance-worthy single, “Ifemi”. “Ifemi”—a Yoruba word meaning “my love”.

From the artwork to the lyrics, the song captures the divine essence of Blackness by depicting melanated individuals in a positive light.

With this being his first contribution to Afrobeats, Floyd Miles intention is to bridge the gap between Black America and Africa. “Ifemi” is only a taste of what is to come.

Known for introspective lyrics rooted in divinity, relationships, and self-awareness, Floyd Miles offers an honest take on music as he uplifts, educates, and entertains listeners with his genre-fusing genius—void of limitations. The Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter has much to offer to the world of music as a multi-genre artist.

Floyd grew up in a music-loving family who introduced him to the smooth sounds of artists like Smokey Robinson and Michael Jackson. Although “secular” music was frowned upon by his religious family, Floyd managed to forge his own path, discovering new sounds and adding to his list of musical influences.

He spent chunks of his childhood and adolescence living on various coasts as his family relocated a few times. Once they arrived in Indiana, Floyd began learning how to play the piano. He also spent time writing poems, singing in the choir, and performing in school productions. It wasn’t until his senior year of high school that he’d record his first song.

A natural-born creative and go-getter, Floyd launched his music career once he moved to New York, which set him on a path to landing notable industry collaborations with Dave East, Cory Gunz, Buda and Grandz, and Dot N Pro—solidifying his agenda.

In 2019, Floyd released his debut album, “Save Yourself, ” representing his musical and spiritual ascension. When reflecting on where he was mentally while creating the album, he states, “I was heavy into meditation, and I was reading and learning more about who I am and where I come from, or where we come from as a people. It was a lot of self-reflection at that time.” In his earlier releases, Floyd Miles is set on releasing fresh sounds that showcase his versatility.
