I am NOT a month; I am black history!
As you close your eyes on the month, I guess y’all close your eyes on me!
I guess because you’ve fought and stood with your brothers and sisters in arms, you’re now ready to say goodbye to me, after all, you did do your part in sounding the alarm to help stop some of the atrocities across Africa and now you’re ready for “the next thing!”
Isn’t it ironic that as you close your eyes on me and this month, you’ll continue to basque in my sounds as you allow your hips to sway and bodies to move under my drum; but that’s fine!!!
You do realise that maybe next year I may not be because you choose today to quiet my voice.
Any way you enjoy your day, your months and your life because I now understand that I do not live on in you.
With 1.85 million black people censured to be living in the UK, attributing to the economic status of the country, with families in sports, arts, religion, banking (the list goes on).
Why after the UK monarchy no longer owns ” black” countries, now “free” under the rule of the Commonwealth am I ONLY celebrated/taught/spoken about/shackled free for 31days of only 1 “glorious” month a year like a sport that everyone (blacks and whites alike) should celebrate?
The perplexities of it all are dumbfounding because I am more than a number; I am skin deep!
My depths run deep, through the veins of my ancestors whose names have never been spoken for standing on the frontline to fight the war for this country.
It runs deeper through the veins of my ancestors whose names were stripped off them to bare the rocks on their backs which built the foundations of the UK financial business district which we hail as Canary Wharf and all the wharf’s across the land.
My treasure runs deeper than the items of my clansmen which were stolen and exhibited for grandeur and even in the crown and jewellery of certain royalty, only to be told WE can now borrow it for a price!
James Burke, British author and tv presenter, the face of ‘Tomorrow’s World’ is famously quoted for saying:
Why should we look to the past to prepare for the future? Because there is nowhere else to look”.
So why do we starve the mind from knowledge, especially the young impressionable minds of tomorrow by not teaching them their history?
During slavery, the most forbidden weapon for slaves was knowledge!
Do not allow yourself, your sons and your daughters to be shackled slaves.
If theirs one thing Millenials have taught us is that no matter the age, once the mind conceives it, go out and do it.
No more starving the minds of tomorrow, give them a present that will last for eternity. It’s time to rewrite history and abolish slave laws, shackles and defeat. Stand in one accord with love.
Who am I? I am more than 31days
Who am I? I am more than 1 month of your year.
I am me, black royalty for every year, my blood never runs cold, and it will never run dry because I will always live on in my people.
Listen to my drum.
I am not a law; I am not a month; I am my people. Black People!
History rewrite the law.
