JULS UNVEILS NEW SINGLE ‘BLESSED’ FEATURING MIRAA MAY & DONAE’O

THE GRAMMY ACADEMY’S NEWEST MEMBER KICKS OFF POST-LOCKDOWN WITH A BANG

‘BLESSED’ is the brand new track by leading artist, producer & DJ Juls, live across all DSP’s today.

The single arrives on the onset of post lockdown measures and enlists the help of Algerian-British singer/songwriter Miraa May and UK veteran rapper/singer Donae’O.

Never afraid to experiment with different sounds, Juls gives his new track a unique twist. Championing his Ghanaian roots and British East London upbringing, the 2x MOBO Award-nominatedJuls put his stamp on the UK music scene by boldly blending Highlife, Hip-hop and Reggae into one; adding his own influential sound to the Afropop movement, but today he describes this track as ‘something different’ as this time he draws inspiration from the Brazilian funk scene.

Miraa May, the self-described Tottenham songbird, already caught the attention of Award-winning, legendary producer Salaam Remi (Amy Winehouse, Nas, The Fugees) who produced her second EP, ‘N15’, so it’s no surprise as to why Juls trusted her to deliver her smooth vocals across his addictive beats.

The ‘Party Hard’ hitmaker, Donae’O, a veteran in the UK music scene with a star-studded line up of collabs including Giggs, Lethal Bizzle, Dizzee Rascal, JME, and Calvin Harris. He sprinkles his soulful vocals and gritty rap against the bouncing backdrop of the Brazillian Funk inspired beat.

Juls says: “This song is different for me. The Brazilian funk, the soul, the Afro Latin and the feel-good vibes – I love it. It reminds me of being out in the sun at a BBQ or dance. The overall message of the song is about self-manifestation. Great things are going to happen for all of us.”

Having played a major role in the rise of Afro-pop, his production on Mr Eazi’s international crossover hits such as ’Bankulize’ and ‘Skin Tight’ heralded new dawn sonically for the genre. In addition, he collaborated with US rapper Goldlink on his Grammy-Nominated album ‘Diaspora’ on ‘U Say’ which also featured Tyler The Creator and Jay Prince.

Closer to home, he’s championed the best of British talent – the likes of Kojey Radical, Kojo Funds, Ms Banks, Not3s, Pa Salieu, Eugy, Tiggs Da Author and Stefflon Don as well as Nigeria’s African Giant – Burna Boy.

A cultural tastemaker, he curated the first UK Afrobeats session for The Boiler Room. View this here.

As the lockdown restrictions slowly begin to lift across the UK the Grammy Academy invited Juls to join the voting members academy alongside 2,300 new members including Lil Nas X and Victoria Monet.

‘Blessed’ is tipped to feature on his forthcoming untitled album. The LP will follow his previous works: ‘Happy Place’, ‘Colours’, ‘Ojekoo’ & ‘Leap of Faith’, available across all DSP’s now.
