DAVIDO AND 50 CENT SHUT DOWN AFRO NATION WITH A BANG!
Nigerian star Davido and American hip hop legend 50 Cent were the last artists to perform at the three-day Afro Nation Festival at the Praia Da Rocha beach in Portimao, Portugal. And they did it with a bang last night as Davido ended the show with arguably the biggest song on the charts, ‘Unavailable’. After performing hit after hit, Davido also had the chance to invite South African star focalistic on stage, where they performed their hit song ‘Champion’ to a charged crowd of about 80,000 music fans worldwide.
Just before Davido went on stage as the last performer in the festival, rapper 50 Cent brought on stage his fellow G-Unit members like Tony Yayo and did not disappoint the elated crowd as he performed his biggest hits of the 2000s; French artist Booba also kept the crowd on their toes as well as Nigeria’s Fireboy D.M.L. and Kenya’s boy band Sauti Sol, who represented East Africa in the event.
On Thursday, the second day of the event, Nigerian star Wizkid did well as the show-stopper for the day. Others who performed before him included U.K. female rappers Lil Simz and Ms Banks and Nigerian star Asake, among others.
On the first day of the event, held on Wednesday, June 28th, Nigerian superstar Burna Boy, better known as the African Giant, was among the stars that opened the Afro Nation festival with a bang! After selling out stadiums across Europe and England, Burna proved again why he is still King on stage by delivering a stunning performance as the show-stopper for the day one program.
Other artistes who delivered exhilarating performances included Jamaican dancehall star Popcaan; Nigerian songstress Arya Starr; Mali-born French-based singer Aya Nakamura; Burna Boy’s younger sister Nissi, among others.
Away from the main stage, the organisers also set up another stage for Amapiano music lovers. South African top D.J.s DJ Maphorisa and Major League, among others, kept the crowd on their feet for the three days the festival lasted.
With such a mammoth crowd, the event organisers did very well in organising and managing crowds from the golden circle area, the V.I.P. side and the general admission section, ensuring everyone enjoyed music and their time at the festival with little or no incidents. According to the organisers, tickets for next year’s festival at the same beach have officially gone on sale.
