Amapiano Emerging DJs You Need To Listen To This Month

When we talk about Black British artists dedicated to their craft, these DJs names need to come up. Yes, Amapiano originated from South Africa but noticing that society is shining a light on these talented DJs is a blessing.

So, who are the best of the best within the British Amapiano scene that is up and coming? What’s it like as a Black British DJ? The UK is very David Guetta, Joel Corry, Jack Jones and Years & Years. So, it’s a great time to see Amapiano explode as it has been the last few years.

Let’s get to it Africa, as a continent, has never been short of creativity in the entertainment space. Many musicians and artists across the world draw inspiration from different countries for their work.

1. DJ HOLY

Being UK based means, we must search a little more to find fresh talent like DJ Holy, with his BBC1Xtra set. So here is us introducing you to Birmingham based Afrobeats and Amapiano DJ and producer DJ Holy. He has performed at BoxPark Croydon, Birmingham City and many other events and venues.

2. Larizzle

Next is Larizzle. African origin and multi-award-winning International DJ brings Tropical House, Instrumental and Electro blended, which defines this guy’s sound and shows off his talent in the Amapiano space.

Here he is bringing something different to the Afrobeat music scene and is already making a name for himself. Larizzle has just recently performed at Strawberries & Cream Festival 2021 and Ama Fest UK, to name some. His music featured on BBC Music, Introducing his Amapiano to African Mix on BBC Radio 1Xtra and songs on Kiss FM. Here’s his recent single, Emotional.

3. Tee Jay

Tee Jay is a club and radio DJ and platinum-selling producer from Lewisham, Southeast London. His latest single, Zajika Izinto with ThackzinDj ft Sir Trill, Master KG and Basetsana, is the best.

At a young age, he was asked to play at house parties, family birthdays and Christenings, so he knew of his talent early on and continued to have a passion for music. He is considered to be one of the UK’s leading DJs.

4. Azyre Blue

Now, even though Amapiano is primarily male-dominated, let’s not forget the females out there. Here we have Azyre Blue, London based AfroHouse, Jazz and Amapiano DJ, who brings her mixes to the forefront. Her sets take you on a journey to take you higher and into another world.

This talented young lady has performed at The Africa Centre, to name a few. She is just starting in her career, besides the others above, but she is a person who has a great vibe around her, a fantastic eclectic ear for music and blends every song well together. Here’s her MixCloud page.

5. Charisse C

Finally, we have Charisse C., DJ, radio and podcast presenter from London. She performs at parties, club nights and has performed at Somerset House, Village Underground, to name a few. Her mixes are on Boiler Room, NTS and No Signal Radio.

Her radio show, Abantu No Signal, tells the stories of South African Music and culture. Abantu Pod is on Spotify, Apple and SoundCloud.
