HOW CELEBRITIES ARE INFLUENCING THE CRYPTOCURRENCY MARKET
The cryptocurrency market is here with us, whether we like it or not. And celebrities, as well as business elites across the world, have embraced it. Top celebrities like Jay-Z, DJ Khaled, Snoop Dogg, among others, have openly talked about and invested in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in the market right now. Snoop is among the first rappers to accept Bitcoin payment for his new album.
He has been quoted severally saying that he has seen technology change over the years, from analogue to the current digital platforms, and is always ready to accept new changes in the market. Fellow rapper 50 Cent has in the recent past netted millions of dollars after accepting 700 Bitcoins as payment for his music.
It is still a work in progress in Africa, but notable names have embraced the crypto market in the recent past. South African comic and Daily Show presenter Trevor Noah has hit the headlines by openly endorsing the cryptocurrency wave.
Nigeria’s popular YouTuber and comedian Mark Angel has even started a cryptocurrency business, where he sells and buys various coins like Bitcoin, Etherium, Lite Coin, among others. Through his new website markangelex.com, he can buy and sell cryptocurrency from different people at very affordable rates, at some point claiming to be the best in the Nigerian crypto-market. The comedian has dedicated several episodes of his YouTube comedy series with cryptocurrency-themed topics to drive the point home.
More and more celebrities from Africa and the western world are joining business elites like Tesla’s Elon Musk and Microsoft founder Bill Gates in the cryptocurrency market. According to Forbes magazine, the cryptocurrency market is currently worth about $2 trillion and grows.
El Savador is currently the first country to recognise Bitcoin as a legal tender after parliament approved a proposal by President Nayib Bukele to embrace cryptocurrency in the country. This means citizens can buy goods and access services and pay for them using Bitcoin.
And the world is catching up very fast. Besides buying Microsoft products and a futuristic Tesla car using Bitcoin, you can now have a sandwich at Subway and pay using cryptocurrency. That’s how deep and fast the crypto market is taking over the world. Famous car brands like Ferrari, Rolls Royce, Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz are also accepting cryptocurrency.
In the UK, some companies specifically sell cars using Cryptocurrency. One of them is AutoCoin Cars, based in Nottingham, which sells various luxurious and day-to-day kinds of cars using cryptocurrency.
Just over ten years ago, the crypto-market was non-existent, but the fire is now on, thanks to major endorsements by celebrities and other business magnates across the world.
